So I just realized, after talking to Jake F, that summer is almost halfway over. Thus far, it has been a lot of fun and I've been really busy. Toss the following ingredients into a blender and you'll have a decent feel for my summer: No Doubt, blockbusters (preferably the 5 dollar showings), playing catch on the quad, swimming late at night, Bars on random weeknights, crappy dvds, flood-running, James' cooking, Arrested Development, design work, relaxing. Despite that delicious slurpy of summer, I don't feel I've actually accomplished any of my more personal goals. It's so easy to just overlook them because of my flexible work schedule. And unfortunately I've taken full advantage of sleeping in.
This summer I am in charge of design for Carnegie Mellon's Orientation 2009 while also planning O-Week. Then right at the beginning of summer I stumbled upon a second job (thanks to James) at BrandingBrand which is a PR/SEO company here in Oakland. I am doing graphic design and some basic html for them. I've focused mainly on BrandingBrand because it is more structured. The orientation job is just... too flexible? Weird, but true. I'm bad at structuring my own personal time.
That being said, I realized I kind of want to change the structure of my weeks to accomplish all of the things I set out to do this summer. So here's a list of the things I plan to get done before summer's end.
-Finish reading 'Zen and The Art of Motorcycle Maintenance'.
-Finish touch-up paint in my room.
-Keep a more regular work-out schedule.
-Work on my novella.
-Finish building my table with Lawson.
-Go to the museum more frequently.
-Go to the laser-light show.
-Write film script with James and Dave.
-Plan my trip home.
Wow, I've got a lot to do in the next six weeks. Why am I still on here? I'll let you know how the previous list pans out though.
